Corporate Volunteering

Corporate Volunteering at Soul

Relationships are our thing. We love to create relationships and we’d love to create a mutually beneficial relationship with your workplace.

Every relationship is unique but generally the following three options seem to work best for most workplaces.

Tour: Join us in the dining room for a lunch tour with our General Manager. Experience what is like to be among the bustle of Soul for a sit-down meal and discuss with the GM the ways Soul is there for our guests or the difficulties faced by our guests such as housing. This includes a two-course meal, a tour of Soul and an opportunity to meet some of our guests and volunteers. (Maximum 15 people. Predetermined time Monday to Thursday, 10.30-12.30 works best)

Volunteer: Join us in small groups (5 people max) to help out in either our kitchen or reception area. Meet our vulnerable guests and serve on the ‘frontlines’ at Soul, supporting Newcastle’s most vulnerable.

The volunteer day typically looks like:

9.15am            Soul Tour & Induction

10.00am         Join all the volunteers for morning tea & team meeting

10.20am         Jump in your assigned service area for the day and enjoy the experience

Enjoy a two course hot lunch on your break

1.30pm            Debrief & reflect with the Soul team.

Fundraise: Soul Hub is not government funded and we rely on the generosity of our community. Your team could support our community by running a fundraising event for us.                        Depending on your teams’ skills you might put on a fundraiser like:

  • a golf day or art show
  • a morning tea or dinner party
  • an 8 hour team treadmill marathon
  • a matched employee giving by the company initiative
  • an out of uniform day
  • an auction or raffle
  • ALS had their amazing Ice Bucket Challenge, perhaps you could come up with a creative idea for Soul?

These three options seem to work best for most workplaces but in reality the options are only limited by the creativity of both our organisations.

If you would like to discuss the possibilities in more detail, please don’t hesitate to contact Mary our Volunteer Co-Ordinator on 4926 1758 or email volunteers@soulhub.org.au.
