Food insecurity exists in Newcastle
It’s a sobering thought to think that many Novocastrians are out each night scavenging through bins to secure their food.
Food that for the most part is expired, non-refrigerated and generally unsafe for consumption.
1/6 Australians suffer from food insecurity at any given time.
At Soul, we’ve heard so many stories of dumpster diving to make ends meet. They are heartbreaking to say the least.
Our hope through our pantry & meal services, is that no one in Newcastle ever finds themselves in a position where they consider looking through bins for food.
