Meet our guest Bruce
Bruce first came to Soul Hub in January 2024. After dedicating decades of his life to helping others – running a soup kitchen in Port Macquarie for 16 years and leading a Samaritans ministry for another eight – he now lives nearby and finds comfort in the community at Soul. “I enjoy the food, the company, and the nice people,” he shares. True to his generous nature, Bruce often brings in items that might help those doing it tough.
When he first visited, Bruce was feeling down and frustrated. The realities of aging and ongoing health challenges had made it difficult for him to contribute to society in the ways he once had. “It’s hard not being able to do what I used to,” he said.
But Soul Hub offered something vital: connection. Sharing meals, chatting with friendly volunteers, and simply having a laugh with others have all made a difference. “They support what I need,” Bruce says. “It gives me company and something to do.”
His encouragement to others is heartfelt: “If you’re feeling alone and need support, it’s a great place.”
Help us make sure that people like Bruce always have a place to belong.
