Meet Cam

Every Thursday, you’ll find Cam in the pantry and stores area at Soul Hub—organising shelves, cleaning up, and mopping the floors. “It’s got to be done,” he says with a grin.

Cam first heard about Soul through a mate who volunteered and thought he’d give it a go. That simple step turned into something much more.

He came in for a trial shift with his support worker about six months ago—but it didn’t take long for the team to see something special. “Cam quickly showed us how independent, hardworking, and funny he is,” says Ella, our Volunteer Coordinator. “He’s been coming on his own ever since, and he’s an amazing addition to our stores team. He never stops working and greets everyone with a big smile and the best hugs!”

Cam says what keeps him coming back is the adrenaline rush of helping people and chatting with Guests. “It makes me excited and happy to help,” he says. He also loves being part of the Thursday crew—shoutout to John, Tommy, and Kathryn!

He’s learned a lot along the way. “Everyone needs help sometimes,” he says. “I’m a caring person, and it’s good to see people get the help they need—it makes me excited.”

And his personal motto?
“It works if you work it—’cause you’re worth it.”
