Wests Canteen

Around 4 years ago one of our volunteers (a former West Player) came along and asked,“If Soul runs canteens?" to which I replied “No... why?” He said, “Because I was asked, and I said sure we can.” I replied again, “We don’t do canteens.” He replied “Oh well we do now, and we start in 2 weeks." This was the start of a great relationship and partnership with Western Suburbs Rosellas.

Soul runs the canteen with its volunteers for each home game at Wests and loves it. All money earned on the day goes straight back into Soul Operations.

Last Sunday was our last canteen and thanks to the support of Wests, fans, players, and spectators we raised over $8,000 this season! Every weekend we’ve been able to meet people along the journey and been able to share the Soul story with them.

When COVID hit and we couldn’t hold our Christmas party due to space and numbers, Wests Newcastle put their hands up and said we can do the lunch at NEX – Newcastle Exhibition & Convention Centre. We had one of the most beautiful lunches, watching our guests come to the dining room and have a meal in a restaurant and feel welcome, loved sitting at a table and enjoying Christmas changed our vulnerable guests’ lives. Wests then gave a gift voucher to all our volunteers (200+).

Wests have been an incredible sponsor here at Soul Hub, from Canteen to Christmas Party and always wanting to lead support anytime and especially in COVID times and beyond.

Thank you, Wests Family!
